Домашнего осла безоговорочно следует причислить к животным с ярким и самобытным характером. Осел отличается гораздо меньшей забитостью и покорностью человеку, чем прочие одомашненные животные. Человек давно подметил эти особенности ослиного нрава и запечатлел их в понятных всем эпитетах: "ослиное упрямство", "осёл" и других, бытующих в лексиконе многих народов. На самом деле осел не менее одарен в умственном отношении, чем лошадь. А суть ослиного упрямства заключается не в глупости, а в стремлении к неповиновению человеку, в нежелании выполнять приказы, которые по его, ослиному мнению, просто не имеют резона.
