Имя историка, литературоведа и собирателя фольклора Александра Николаевича Афанасьева известно всем. Последней объемной работой ученого стало составление сборников русских сказок, которые он разделил на детские и взрослые. Фольклорный сборник взрослых сказок "Русские заветные сказки", ни в коем случае не мог быть напечатан ни в подцензурной царской, ни в строго следившей за культурой печатного слова советской России. От откровенного самобытного русского фольклора, кажется могла покраснеть даже бумага. Сказки вышли сто лет назад в Женеве, ограниченным тиражом и целый век оставались редкой, запрещенной книгой - только в 90-е годы книга была издана в России.
