Немного вальяжный и ленивый, немного циничный но, в общем, и целом просто "добрый малый" - Евгений Онегин. Именно о таком мечтала уездная барышня Татьяна "все для мечтательницы нежной в единый образ облеклись, в одном Онегине слились".
Но молодой аристократ по началу ведет себя отнюдь не по-джентельменски и, в конце концов, сам страдает от своей бессердечности, когда позже, повстречав Татьяну на светском рауте, влюбляется в нее без ума.
