Another exceptional book from Stephen Fry. His retelling of the mythical stories of ancient heroes is delightful. Delivered with passion, drama and flair... made me laugh to hear the ancient Athenians with broad Scottish accents among others and was very enjoyable. The storys of Theseus were my favourites, poor Ariadne too. More stories please, Mr. Fry!

This collection of short stories from Joe's First Law world is fantastic. Action, adventure, schemes, sarcastic wit, plots, double crosses and new awesome characters to add in with old favourites. There were also some truly laugh out loud moments too. As usual the delivery by Steven Pacey was outstanding. Absolutely loved that Joe himself narrated one chaper as well. Plus the added interview at the end with Joe and Steven was a nice feature.

Another fantastic book by Lord Grimdark. Loved it! Fast paced, twists and turns, wry humour, bloody battles, mind games, cynicism, power plays, drama and laugh out loud moments for us who like dark wit. A neat twist at the end and a surprising reveal, I didn't guess at... Epic narration by Steven Pacey once again! He is awesome at the voices and the genuine way people speak.

Wow did I struggle to finish this book. It was a good conclusion to the series but it wasn't what I was expecting. The story was told in 2 parts split between the past and present with lots added off page. I think I enjoy a straight forward story better rather than the chopping and changing. The overall twist at the end/conclusion was great though, quite unexpected. I really enjoyed the character growth of Nona though, she started out as Wolverine then finished up as quite the wise well balanced person. Still love this world and the characters. Also can we have a book all about Sisters Apple and Kettle as the focus please Mr Lawrence?

The best fantasy western ever.

I loved this book. Best blending of fantasy and a western ever. Fast paced, plenty of action, twists and turns, revenge and laugh out loud moments. These characters are awesome bastards, all of them. If you love a great story really well told and narrated to perfection, have a listen to this book. Steven Pacey's 'Nicomo Cosca' is the bloody best!

Fantastic war story filled with complex flawed characters, wit and sarcastic humour. Great battle scenes and interesting inner dialogue as we focus on our main pov characters as they fight, trudge and scheme their way through a war fought to fuel the egos of more powerful people. What completely blows me away though are the scenes with some background characters, the short sharp focus on one background character leading to the next, those sequences are pure gold. You may only be in one of their heads for 2 sentences but damn its good! Current film and tv writers could learn a lot about writing characters from this book. The Heroes is some of the best storytelling filled with real characters that are cruel, clueless, self effacing, loyal, ambitious, powerful, self aware, powerless and everything else a person can be... and also that some dreams are better left unrealised. Joe Abercrombie is my hero (favourite author)!

Another fantastic story from Joe Abercrombie. I am loving coming back to his books and listening to them on Audible. Steven Pacey did another great job with all the many voices too. This book has always been my favorite stand-alone story from Joe, full of betrayal, gory fights/ battles, and truly great characters.. I love how self aware his books are and that they are full of 'real' people with real emotions, reactions and reasoning. They lie and cheat and delude themselves and pick and choose what they are willing to do or believe in and are just generally very relatable and despicable at once and it makes for the best stories in my opinion. They moralize and philosophize and then turn around and kill, run away or completely change their minds. These are truly my kind of books. Highly recommended.

This book is fantastic! An epic tale of adventure, betrayal, secrets, manipulation, self deception and power. One of the most fullfilling 3rd books in a trilogy I've read/listened to. Conclusions to the characters story arcs all delivered with wit, sarcasm and a massive dose of irony. The First Law trilogy is my all time favorite book series, you know, the one book trilogy you take with you to the desert island.
