Story
Far from the savage remnants of humanity, Henry and his family have managed to survive the grip of desolate, perpetual winter on a vast tundra that was once an ocean teeming with life. When the family is discovered, their peaceful existence is shattered and their lives changed forever. Henry’s siblings are kidnapped, leaving him alone in the ruins of their home. Broken, altered, and tormented by all that has befallen him, he is driven to wreak vengeance upon those who assume him dead...by any means necessary.

Story
Based around the gospels and letters of St Paul, and focusing on characters one and two generations on from the death of Christ, as well as Paul (Saul) himself, Damascus nevertheless explores the themes that have always obsessed Tsiolkas as a writer: class, religion, masculinity, patriarchy, colonisation, refugees; the ways in which nations, societies, communities, families and individuals are united and divided - it's all here, the contemporary and urgent questions, perennial concerns made vivid and visceral.

I returned to this book as I was so taken aback by the first chapter I put the book on hold, but I kept going. I feel it is a story of such hardship for the first Christians of how brave they were to against what was deemed the norm. Well written and narrated, I was glad I persevered. I totally enjoyed the story.

Story
For years, rumors of the 'Marsh Girl' have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand. Then the time comes when she yearns to be touched and loved. When two young men from town become intrigued by her wild beauty, Kya opens herself to a new life - until the unthinkable happens.

A beautiful story, rich in description of the marsh and the girl who loved it, Kayla, who survives against all odds and is broken by love lost but love is found again, eventually. Loved the detailed narrative and felt one with the heroine who loved her natural surroundings so much. The surprise ending completed the whole story, loved every minute of it and this wonderful story is highly recommended :)

I will review the very last book of the whole series as I will say the same for each one. These are a must read for everyone, the message of being kind to the earth and thankful for what the earth provides for us all is loud and clear. The Mother's Song that is cited throughout the last books is amazing. I loved every minute of being lost in the ancient world of Jondelar, Ayla and their little daughter through the rich, descriptive story spun by Jean M Auel. I'm so glad I found the books and will no doubt listen to them all again.

In Stephen King's mesmerizing new masterpiece - his biggest, most riveting novel since The Stand - a Maine town and its inhabitants are isolated from the world by an invisible, impenetrable dome. Celebrated storyteller Stephen King returns to his roots in this tour de force featuring more than 100 characters - some heroic, some diabolical - and a supernatural element as baffling and chilling as any he's ever conjured.

Amazing narrator!
Reviewed: 23-02-2018
Would you listen to Under the Dome again? Why?
Under the Dome was equivalent to King's best, namely The Stand and IT. The way the narrator brought all the characters to life with his amazing accents and ability to capture the personalities was a true talent. I would listen again just to hear Raul and his art bring the story to life.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Definitely Barbie
Which character – as performed by Raul Esparza – was your favourite?
You couldn't go past Raul's interpretation of Jim Rennie. The smug southern drawl that became Rennie truly made you dislike the character with a passion.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes! I will listen to it again!
Any additional comments?
I had difficulty reading the book and lost interest early on, never finishing it, but after listening to the audiobook version I regret not completing it. I truly had no idea how good it was! Highly recommended.
