This novel does not portray men in a very good light (from a female's perspective, at least) - excessive drinking, gambling, smoking and womanising are depicted as being normal, and acceptable. The majority of males may find it entertaining but this does not make the behaviour acceptable, especially in today's society.
Further, I couldn't stomach some of the heroic exploits, which I found to be simply unbelievable. Too gung-ho for my taste.

Excellent narrator. Extremely moving story of the Irish struggle for independance from Britain. The End.

Mediocre at best.

Unnecessary, and repetitive, use of foul language. Vulgar. Better towards the end. Clean it up.
