Story
Lestat takes us from his ancestral castle in the snow-covered mountains of France to the verdant wilds of lush Louisiana, with its lingering fragrances of magnolias and night jasmine; from the far reaches of the Pacific’s untouched islands to the 18th-century city of St. Petersburg and the court of the Empress Catherine. He speaks of his fierce battle of wits and words with the mysterious Rhoshamandes, proud Child of the Millennia, reviled outcast for his senseless slaughter of the legendary ancient vampire Maharet, avowed enemy of Queen Akasha....

Was pleasantly impressed. Best book in the chronicles since Blackwood farm. Still a few missed opportunities that could have really nailed it. Last few chapters were a bit slow, but that could have been as a result of how much I enjoyed the rest of it. Again, new characters were introduced, rather thought some old sidelined characters could have been utilised it in their place.

Story
At the novel's centre: the vampire Lestat de Lioncourt, hero, leader, irresistible force, irrepressible spirit, battling (and ultimately reconciling with) a strange otherworldly form that has taken possession of his undead body and soul. This ancient and mysterious power and unearthly spirit of vampire lore has all the force, history and insidious reach of the unknowable universe.

I have always enjoyed the vampire chronicles. Loved some of the stories. But this one, realms of Atlantis. I struggled to stay interested, I’m very sad to say. However, it did tie up some loose ends that was both pleasing (memnock) and disappointing (Quinn). And the premise of the plot was good. Just too many new characters with their own back stories. Wished author would have further developed known (loved or hated) characters from previous books that were just in the background with little to no action. Book started very promising.
