In a village at the edge of the wilderness of Northern Russia, where the winds blow cold and the snow falls many months of the year, a stranger with piercing blue eyes presents a new father with a gift - a precious jewel on a delicate chain, intended for his young daughter. Uncertain of its meaning, the father hides the gift away, and his daughter, Vasya, grows up a wild, willful girl, to the chagrin of her family. But when mysterious forces threaten the happiness of their village, Vasya discovers that she may be the only one who can keep the darkness at bay.

This was fantastic!
I loved the world, it was so incredibly rich, and the narrator did an outstanding job of emoting this richness. When listening to this story, you could feel the cold, feel the wind rattle your bones and the sting of wet on warm skin.
Highly, highly recommend, it was excellent!!

With all of the pluck and charm of its eponymous young hero, Rachel McAdams ( The Notebook, Spotlight, Midnight in Paris) delivers a spectacular reading of Montgomery's beloved bildungsroman. In moments both funny and bittersweet, McAdams' voice is imbued with the spark that has made Anne a much-loved symbol of individualism and cheer for over a century.

Love, love, love! If you could not tell, I loved everything about this book, and Rachel McAdams as narrator was the perfect choice. Her tone, inflection, her voice in general, was so perfectly suited to the story and I hope that she plans to narrate the rest of the series.

This was so fantastic! Great action, great characters, interesting magic system, and a world infused with Persian mythology (something I have never read before). A new favourite!

The second chapter in the life of Anne Shirley. This book follows Anne from the age of 16 to 18, during the two years that she teaches at Avonlea school. It includes many of the characters from Anne of Green Gables, as well as new ones like Mr. Harrison, Miss Lavendar Lewis, Paul Irving, and the twins Dora and Davy.

I adore Anne and it was lovely to return to the island. This is such a heartwarming series and I continuously find myself smiling along at Anne's many scrapes. Definitely recommend.
