Building upon this critical work in Good Calories, Bad Calories and presenting fresh evidence for his claim, Taubes now revisits the urgent question of what’s making us fat—and how we can change—in this exciting new book. Persuasive, straightforward, and practical, Why We Get Fat makes Taubes’s crucial argument newly accessible to a wider audience.

It seems as though the book is written to convince those with 'old school' understanding of nutrition and fat gain, and reiterates the same message over and over. once I skipped through, I was pleased to find the later chapters informative and useful.

South African-born Elon Musk is the renowned entrepreneur and innovator behind PayPal, SpaceX, Tesla, and SolarCity. Musk wants to save our planet; he wants to send citizens into space, to form a colony on Mars; he wants to make money while doing these things; and he wants us all to know about it. He is the real-life inspiration for the Iron Man series of films starring Robert Downey, Jr. The personal tale of Musk's life comes with all the trappings one associates with a great, drama-filled story.

An intriguing story that inspires me to go out and do things, make things, and strive for greatness - all the while highlighting how much this one man and his loyal associates have been able to achieve in such a short period of time.

I have seen miracles happen to men and women in all walks of life all over the world. Miracles will happen to you, too - when you begin using the magic power of your subconscious mind. This book is designed to teach you that your habitual thinking and imagery mold, fashion, and create your destiny; for as a man thinketh in his subconscious mind, so is he.

I'll admit mj interest was sparked by a Michael Phelps reference to this book, so I decided to give it a go.

I found the concepts of sub conscious and control of self to be very interesting, but the author lost me when they brought religion and belief into the equation.

I do believe that you can manifest your own desires in your health, happiness and well-being. but to place 'faith' in your subconscious to deliver external variables is tenuous even without diluting the argument with references to God.

That said, there are elements that I appreciated and will attempt to utilise in my life.

At some point every one of us embarks on a journey to find love. We meet people, date, get into and out of relationships, all with the hope of finding someone with whom we share a deep connection. This seems standard now, but it's wildly different from what people did even just decades ago. Single people today have more romantic options than at any point in human history. With technology, our abilities to connect with and sort through these options are staggering. So why are so many people frustrated?
