Where the Crawdads Sing
- By: Delia Owens
- Narrated by: Cassandra Campbell
- Length: 12 hrs and 12 mins
For years, rumors of the 'Marsh Girl' have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand. Then the time comes when she yearns to be touched and loved. When two young men from town become intrigued by her wild beauty, Kya opens herself to a new life - until the unthinkable happens.

Not at all what I expected.
Fantastic by all accounts, not predictable and 50% crime 50% fab romance/general story.

It took me a while to get into this, and I think mainly it was the narration. However, the story is gripping and off the wall, whilst being funny as well as curiosity provoking. Not at all what I expected, but would, and have recommended to friends and family since!
NB- some “colourful” language is used, it didn’t bother me, but if anything from the s to the c word makes you shudder, maybe it’s not the story for you.
