I’m generally very choosy with my narrators and find females easier to listen to, however I think the narrator nailed it, he was great. The story was dark and I felt like it had this self deprecating humour to it that I really enjoyed.
The setting felt quite young adult, very coming of age, it conflicted somewhat with the violent and sometimes more mature nature of the book but I found it appealing.
I’m really excited to see what the second book has in store.

Once upon a time, a beautiful queen was cursed by a dark faery. That curse, inherited by twin princesses, Aura and Luna, binds their lives in the strangest of ways. At an early age, the girls were more than sisters. They were the strongest of allies until a combination of jealousy, anger, and dark magic tore their relationship to shreds. Aura took everything from Luna: her home, her family, and her love by murdering the prince who'd chosen her instead of Aura. Luna wants revenge, but she's running out of time.

I thought this had a lot of potential to be a great story. It started out promising and all went downhill. The characters lacked real depth, the story felt rushed the male narration was just bad, the voice he used for the female lead made her sound like an old lady.
It kind of killed the whole story for me. I dreaded his turn to narrate.

My father wants desperately to be king, and I just want to be free. But freedom will require escape, and I'm a prisoner of my mother's curse and my father's greed. In a land purged of enchantment, love might be the only magic left, and who could ever love...a bird?

I wasn’t expecting that much but really enjoyed this story. The characters were so well written and the narration was perfect. I want to find more from this author or and narrator!

I liked the book, the story was good. The narration in this case really let it down though. It didn't feel young, the main character didn't feel engaging or vulnerable the way she did in the written version.
It's a great YA story, and I enjoyed the whole written series. I won't however be purchasing the following audiobooks in the series. But I'm fussy with narration I think.
