Loved it from start to finish! Timely word for me. So inspiring. Will be listening again straight away I think!! For everyone who wants to live daily in the tangible presence of God, you cannot go wrong with this book! I want to make special mention of the narrator … FINALLY someone who understands what it takes to be a good narrator!!! So many times I find it an absolute struggle to get through a book because the narrator is either dull and monotone, or more often, overly dramatic and annoys the heck out of me!!! Chris is eloquent, speaking at a fast enough pace not to bore me to tears, yet still perfectly legible and easy to follow, pausing where necessary for effect, or to let something sink in for a moment. His delivery is expressive, real, but never over-dramatic … quite simply this is the best narration I have heard yet!! Please people, employ his services as much as possible!!!!!

I THINK it was a great book ...

I am pretty sure the content of this book was excellent, but I struggled to get through it, due to the narration. I know I can tend to be a bit critical of these things, due to being a fluent reader myself, with very good knowledge of pronunciations etc, but I found his style very difficult to deal with. It felt unnatural and like he was trying too hard to be expressive, or to enunciate - often on simple words or phrases - while at the same time consistently pronouncing words ending in "ing" without the ng … ie talkin, somethin, followin etc. This probably would not have phased me if his style was more natural and conversational, but combined with the OVER-enunciating of simple words, and the forced expressiveness, it really jarred. Then throw in the mispronunciation of a number of words, one example being Arab, but can't recall the others now, it just grated on me. The juxtaposition of an unnatural over careful style, with inaccuracies and mis-pronunciations did not work well for me at all! As I said, I could forgive the mistakes if the style overall was more natural and conversational, and easier to listen to, but I found myself just getting lulled into nothingness, and missing a lot of what was being said. Having said all that, the chapters I felt were very significant, I went back over, and did receive some very real impact from, so I believe the book itself is well worth it, and someone who doesn't find the above issues so difficult to listen to, will enjoy this immensely I'm sure. I think I would have enjoyed reading it myself more, but unfortunately am too time-poor for that, so I like to listen while doing menial tasks in the kitchen. Definitely a powerful message of God's love for us as His adopted children at the core of this book. Hope others can tune in to that better than I could!!

Great content, a little tedious in delivery

The timing of my listening to this book was amazing … so relevant to where I find myself in my life right now. The content is extremely good, and gives meaning and purpose to the suffering we each go through in life in different ways. I did find it difficult to listen to, most of all because the narrator seemed to feel it was necessary to say the same thing twice in a row (I imagine the book has highlighted statements, most likely in some sort of "box" or shading, as I have seen in other books, but when you have just said the thing in the flow of the writing, having it repeated immediately in narration seems pointless and tedious. Otherwise, however, the narrator was easy to listen to, clear and well-spoken, not overly dramatic as some are, but not monotone either. That was my only criticism of his performance. I did struggle with the way in which some concepts were expressed, or some of the personal details described, but overall, it is a very worthwhile book which, for someone in the midst of difficult and painful trials, should provide some hope and a sense of purpose in the midst of them.

In Steven Furtick's trademark humour, candidness and forthrightness, he challenges us all to live lives greater than we are currently living - no matter what our vocation, our family life, or our background. It's not about all that! It's about a vision for what God can do in us and through us, as we dare to believe that He has a greater plan and purpose for our lives, whatever that looks like. We can be used by God, and it begins by taking simple, small steps towards greater things in our everyday lives.

Awesome teaching!

This is my 2nd time through this audiobook ... I have to admit the first time through I struggled to get into it because I am so used to Steven's incredibly dynamic preaching, that I kept losing focus on what he was saying as he narrated this book, because it was delivered in a much more matter-of-fact way that didn't hold my attention the same way! However, I felt prompted by God to revisit it this week, and I am SO glad I did, as the message within these "pages" was confirmation of so much God had already been saying to me through Joyce Meyer and others, about overcoming the battle in our minds, and this time I got SO MUCH out of it, it was absolutely God's timing and He spoke to me in a very powerful way. I highly recommend this book, especially to anybody who struggles deeply with insecurities, doubts or fears. It is so refreshing to hear a man of God with such openness and transparency about his own failings and struggles - it gives me hope for someone like me!!
