This story was much too bleak for me I stopped it after a few chapters. One lot of tragic circumstances after another. Well written but all the accents the narrator used were also hard to listen to.

Intriguing but left me feeling uncomfortable.

I normally love reading Lucinda Riley’s novels but this departure from her usual genre of historical fiction into thriller mode and the way it evolved and ended didn’t sit well with me. Although this story was interesting in a way what I like about Lucinda’s other story writing is learning about important historical events and other cultures. This one featured a lot of drinking in English pubs, drinking cups of tea, too many people being killed and ultimately wasn’t very believable.
