Really enjoyed the story lines. Saddened by the inhumanity of some of the characters, cheered by the hope. Many twists plus interesting facts keep one entertained.

Allying with Normans doesn’t come easily to Gareth and Gwen, but initial doubts are swept aside as more losses come to light. Because Robert's death has upended the balance of power in England, friends and foes alike have a vested interest in keeping the truth from coming out, and it is up to Gareth and Gwen to stop the killer before he claims another victim - and maybe a country.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

This is the 2nd really poor narrator I have had out of my books. It really takes something from the story. He really rushes, he needs to slow down. It was annoying I don't want to listen to it as if I was speed reading. If someone is trying to make books shorter it is a bad idea.

Jamie Fraser knows from his time-traveling wife Claire that, no matter how unlikely it seems, America will win the Revolutionary War. But that truth offers little solace, since Jamie realizes he might find himself pointing a weapon directly at his own son - a young officer in the British army. And Jamie isn't the only one with a tormented soul - for Claire may know who wins the conflict, but she certainly doesn't know whether or not her beloved Jamie survives.

Mourning the death of his father and gravely injured at the hands of the English, Jamie Fraser finds himself running with a band of mercenaries in the French countryside, where he reconnects with his old friend, Ian Murray. Both are nursing wounds, both have good reason to stay out of Scotland, and both are still virgins despite several opportunities to remedy that deplorable situation with ladies of easy virtue.

Would you try another book written by Diana Gabaldon or narrated by Allan Scott-Douglas?

I always would by books by Diana Gabaldon. I will not buy a book narrated by Allan Scott. I really hated the voice he used for Jamie. To such a degree I actually had to finish the book by reading it. Spoilt the whole experience. Though I did enjoy the story.

Would you be willing to try another one of Allan Scott-Douglas’s performances?

No

really annoying have read all the other books this was really just a chapter in them. Interesting but not really necessary. As the second book it was a complete waste. I am so disappointed in McCaffrey allowing herself to be party to this type of money grabbing enterprise. Almost as bad as Brooks.

Fiametta Beneforte dreamed of making beautiful and enchanted objets d'art, but alas her magician-goldsmith father was more likely to have her scrub the kiln than study magic. After all, it was a waste to train a mere daughter beyond the needs of the moment.... Thur Ochs dreamed of escaping the icy mines of Bruinwald. But the letter from his brother Uri arranging his apprenticeship to Master Beneforte was not the only force that drew him over the mountains to the Duchy of Montefoglia.

Enjoyed this, prefer the Sharing Knife and Miles books though. A fair and interesting storyline though I prefer books set in a true fantasy scenario,, this had a interesting twist on Religion & Church.
