The actors were pretty good at selling their characters. The first episode or 2 were good but after that the story started to get disjointed and by the end I was lost as to what was happening. Frankly it was a non ending. So sad it was promising but fell down in the end.

Wow.

What a ride. The dramatic presentation really brings the humaness to the history of the armistice. Very well presented. Wish so much more was in the narrative but still happy with the focus of the work. My immediate impression was that I should play this for my children just before every Remembrance Day. To make it real what happens 100yrs ago.

Blasphemy is not comedy.

I am all for comedy but not when it is blasphemous. Making a mockery of the Christ is not acceptable.

Very Aussie.

Loved how relatable and realistic the characters and the scenes were described. Kept tell my wife I expected to see it as an ABC Aussie drama series one day. Loved the gritty genuineness all the way through.

When is the next season?

Well performed. Intriguing story. Left wanting more than 10 chapters. Great range of characters to make the story work. Made me really rethink my own online identity a lot as I listened.

More I read more I was hooked.

After seeing this series promoted on Facebook, I had a listen. This is my first time experiencing McDermotts writing and I can now say I will be back for more. Many varying characters to love and hate, cheer for and cry with should the events require it. I appreciated the gritty realness if the situation and the human responses by the differing groups in the story. It helped make the adventure relatable and added realism to the narrative. Best quote (from memory) - I cant be bought but I can be rented, especially if there is coffee involved. Best one liners goes to Torres (aka the Magician) In the end I had to listen at 1.5speed to hear as much as I could each sessions (really highlighted the fight scenes by doing this too)

Better than I thought it would be.

Being new to audible I was unsure about books I hadn’t contemplated. I was surprised with this story. It kept me hooked. Not to say it was a brilliant story but being a psychological thriller of sorts I found myself listening to it for long periods. Narrator does a decent job with using voices to distinguish between characters making some exchanges very easy to follow. Only real complaint would be that some scene changes are clunky in audio only audio especially if you can’t visually see the book has a scene divider. Other than that I enjoyed it over all. Should have see the plot change coming.... but I didn’t. Failing to do so made the ending more enjoyable. Might check out the authors other works if this how they write.
