Very sappy, drawn out and predictable. I finished the book certainly it the worst but not gripping.

This book was so wonderful to read with descriptions of the era that bought back some lovely memories and painted pictures in my mind of wartime Australia. I really love the way this author writes and will be trying her other books.

I struggle to find books that grip me but this certainly did. I’ve read a number of Francine Rivers books and have always enjoyed them. I love you the way this story connects the stories in the bible that were happening in Tamar’s time. A great read.

I really enjoyed this story which wasn’t overly predictable and had some great twists. Being Australian the only thing I found a little distracting were the Australian accents but not distracting enough to ruin the story for me.

I have always felt concern for Mary in Pride and Prejudice and have hated that she is soooo overlooked and ignored. I loved seeing her come to life and have her chance at happiness. Quite well written and respectful to not shadow the classic of ‘Pride and Prejudice’. It would be great to see it made in to a movie!!

A very interesting insight in to a world I had no knowledge of. Disturbing and distressing at times. Very gripping read.

This book kept me guessing and I never did really figure out the twist til it was unraveled. An enjoyable book to get lost in.

Not one of my favourite Cookson books but still a good yarn. The story follows the lead character from teens to death in old age so it is rather a long story but not too drawn out.

The storyline was not overly gripping and a bit corny. The lead character was often annoying and repetitive. Overall I was disappointed and am unlikely to look for more from this author.
