Story
Seasoned obituary writer Eve Mallow has a new assignment: to tell the life story of famed musician Bernard Fitzpatrick. A chance to spend a few days in the sweet little village of Saxford St. Peter, walking the country lanes with her beloved dachshund, Gus, and meeting new people sounds like a dream. But it turns out that Bernard’s life was much less interesting than his death. On the day she arrives, news breaks that the charismatic cellist was the victim of a grisly murder. Could this quaint English village be hiding a dark secret?

Story
A wealthy woman strangled six hours after she's arranged her own funeral. A very private detective uncovering secrets but hiding his own. A reluctant author drawn into a story he can’t control. What do they have in common? Unexpected death, an unsolved mystery and a trail of bloody clues lie at the heart of Anthony Horowitz's new thriller. Spread the word. The word is murder.

Story
When editor Susan Ryeland is given the tattered manuscript of Alan Conway's latest novel, she has little idea it will change her life. She's worked with the revered crime writer for years, and his detective, Atticus Pund, is renowned for solving crimes in the sleepy English villages of the 1950s. As Susan knows only too well, vintage crime sells handsomely. It's just a shame that it means dealing with an author like Alan Conway.... But Conway's latest tale of murder at Pye Hall is not quite what it seems.

I have A New Author to Follow

The book is 15 hours plus of great listening. I thought I was in for a nice easy casual BBC type listen but got so much more. There are several murders to solve and different angles and history to think about. I did get to a stage in the middle of the book when I was thinking, Oh for goodness sakes get on with it we don't need all these clues and details BUT yes you do. The last two chapters were fantastic and yes I did pick Who Dun It but wasn't entirely sure until the end. Very Enjoyable read and I will pre order his next book in this series this author writes really well.

Strong Male and Female characters. Great easy listening story. I had gone away from the Cynsters to follow another branch of the family but found them so very slow and boring so now back to the Cynster family and this book has redeemed the author and her story telling. Have purchased the next book in this story.

Story just drags on on I got to the point I just didn't care any more and didn't finish it.

Cool Beginning but does Warm Up
Reviewed: 06-12-2019
This book takes to about Chapter 12 to actually get interesting and I think you have had to read the previous book to understand what the first few chapters are all about. Even poor Mr Guidall wasn't up to his usual standards and seemed like he was stilted and racing a clock, so much so that his slight lisp became a rumbling mumble. That being said when things started to get interesting and warm up, the reader settled into his normal fantastic reading voice and did a great job. Great read as per usual from Kyle Mills. Love following Mitch Rapp.

Why did I put off reading this book
Reviewed: 18-10-2019
I left this book on my list for a while as I hadn't listened or heard of this author - I really liked this book and finished it within a day. Well written story and didn't get bogged down in this type gun or that type of ammunition or any moralisations just a good yarn. Will defiantly follow up with book two and three.
