Narration lets it down
Reviewed: 24-10-2019
Thanks for the book and the opportunity to prove feedback. It’s a good book, and would be much better with a more dynamic narrator given the content. No offence to Greg Young, he’d be better suited to narrating other genres, such as true crime. Also, is it really necessary to narrate the entire contents of the book verbatim, such as the table of contents and web addresses? Perhaps more appropriate and practicable to have a supporting PDF document for reference material please.

It’s a war filled with larger than life characters. There will be sledging, accusations of cheating, theft and performance enhancing drugs. And allegations that Australia was cheated out of a Guinness World Record. In the process of charting the scandal-plagued race to breed the world’s hottest chilli, the audio documentary lifts the lid on the subculture of ‘Chilli-heads’, hardcore chilli fans spread across the globe who compete in chilli eating and breeding competitions.

Story
When Germany’s Sixth Army advanced to Stalingrad in 1942, its long-extended flanks were mainly held by its allied armies - the Romanians, Hungarians, and Italians. But as history tells us, these flanks quickly caved in before the massive Soviet counter-offensive which commenced that November, dooming the Germans to their first catastrophe of the war. However, the historical record also makes clear that one allied unit held out to the very end, fighting to stem the tide - the Italian Alpine Corps.

It would do a great service to audio books if this narrator was to be given more gigs. Keep up the great work!

Australia has more things that can kill you than anywhere else. Nevertheless, Bill Bryson journeyed to the country and promptly fell in love with it. The people are cheerful, their cities are clean, the beer is cold, and the sun nearly always shines.

Perfect match!

Thanks Bill for a wonderful account of your travels and thank you William for your great narration. I think this author and narrator are the perfect match. While some of my fellow Aussies might grumble at the mispronunciation of some of people and places - I don't mind. It adds to the charm of the book. Besides, who is to say who's right or wrong...? Keep up the great work and thank you again!

Story
One of the best selling History titles of 2009. Examining the Second World War on every front, Andrew Roberts asks whether, with a different decision-making process and a different strategy, Hitler’s Axis might even have won. Were those German generals who blamed everything on Hitler after the war correct, or were they merely scapegoating their former Führer once he was safely beyond defending himself?

Best narration of a non-fiction ever!

On top of the rich historical content with superb analysis, the accents that narrator Chris could apply to the soldiers and leaders of the different nations made this production a 5/5! Well done to all responsible. It helped me gain an even greater appreciation of what was a momentous era in world history. Thank you!
