Wonderful job from both Drew Karpyshyn in writing an amazing book which is so, so good at shifting between characters, and occasionally showing the same event from different perspectives.

And a wonderful job by Jonathan Davis, really bringing these characters to life and making these scenes so vivid.

A truly great introduction to a wonderful trilogy

The Bane trilogy is one of the great star wars novel trilogies, and this book is a fantastic introduction to that. The way it shows the protagonist advance through a number of years without it being jarring is a great example of storytelling at its finest. The writing of the action scenes, the way it expands the lore, and the way it works in and advances other pieces of lore is great to see. A shame none of legends is Canon anymore, as much as I give the new Canon novels a chance to live up to the potential of this universe, they never end up coming anywhere near the heights of legends, and this is one of those great examples of that.
