Anecdotes & Songs, not a story, but that's OK!

a bunch of anecdotes & songs delivered on a stage to a live studio audience. so not a book but the anecdotes are as good as most star-studded biographies. not a musical fan, more a fan of Alan's from his movie/tv work, but he has a stellar voice, some great accompaniment so I was able to enjoy the majority of the songs regardless. Like anything Alan does - full of heart.

The narration for this series was exceptional as always. All the biggest dangling threads were tied off in a reasonably satisfying way, even if the library is still an enigma (one that'll probably be explored in the unsubtley and rapidly set-up sequel series established/teased in the final chapters. My only major qualms were 1. the main protagonists scenes with her love interest were overly gushy - her 2 friends DC & Jordan's romance was way more natural & less nausea-inducing. 2. so many secondary & tertiary characters to try and remember - i took 1.5 months between listening to books 4&5 & outside of her school cohort i couldn't tell you most of those minor characters are which leads to point 3. listing names of characters in battles, memories, expositional paragraphs that just go on forever & kill the pacing.

Great narration by Carly Robins - hope they give her some other fantasy/sci-fi series on-par or better in writing quality. the story threatens to retread Eragon at times, but the time-travel & maturing lead character keeps things interesting.

delightful rendition & entertaining execution of an interesting concept. you can tell the narrator is passionate about the material. the children characters definitely come off the page like kids - complete with annoyimg tendencies.

fun YA fiction elevated by a stellar narrator who differentiates the characters well. also - addresses logic gaps from first book eg. old-school subjects vs advance tech world.

Fun listen, motivated to hear sequel.
