My issue is not so much the story but the audio narrative.

I had high hopes for it from reading reviews & I am wondering how different an experience it may have been if I was able to read it as opposed to listening.

There is so much effort put into building the characters. environment and atmosphere of the book by Dalton, that I feel ripped off at not having the space to build my own picture in my mind as I listen to the overly expressive narrative literally being yelled at me throughout the book.

I can feel the narrators passion and desire to do the book justice, however I feel she robs the listener of one of the fundamental joys of reading, the ability of turn the narrative into pictures in one's mind.

Anna Karenina was on a 'must reads' list & had recently been referred to in another book I read and then a movie so I thought it was time to listen to it.

I'm not sure what I was expecting, but whatever it was it wasn't what I got. it was a long book and to me never seemed to come together. Although I enjoyed the journey of some of the characters it never really seemed to go anywhere.

Given the age & origins of the story though it may just be my expectations didn't match the work produced.

Once again Rachael had me hooked from the first few lines. In just under 24 hours she took me on a journey so relatable & real, I just had to keep listening until the end. As with every story she writes I wanted it to keep going as I had fallen in love with her characters. I hope we get to revisit them all soon.
Having grown up with & blessed to call the incredible Loreen on who she based Tabetha a friend I was so moved by the way Rachael made her true spirit shine from the book. A more capable & wonderful woman you could not meet & Tabetha did her proud. I just wished chainsaw wielding & motorbike riding had featured, yes there is nothing Loreen can't do.
Thanks Rach for once again leaving me feeling totally moved by your writing. And great big hugs for providing your books in the audible format, you know it means the world to me to be able to still enjoy your books now reading isn't possible for me.
Thank you Casey for doing such a beautiful job of bringing Rach's words to life.

What depth of characters, each as strong as the other, so beautifully written I found myself invested in each of them. The storyline touched me deeply, the emotional & complex storylines were handled with such care and deep respect. I have loved every one of Rachael Johns books, but this is my favourite.

I also loved the audio by Rebecca Macaulay. I am restricted to audio as a means of enjoying books now days and I listen every day, it is my release from the real world, and I can hands down say that I have never enjoyed an audio presentation like Rebecca's before, she read Rachaels book as if the words were her own, the characters from her own mind.

Thank you to both you incredibly talented ladies, Rachael keep writing & getting Rebecca to bring your words to life. The perfect team.
