Unfortunately, this time Kel Kade fell flat with her story. I can see why she originally dropped this one to start the Rezkin series. The characters and storyline were boring :( The forester thing was great, but I would have preferred actually doing something with it and building more interest at the start and more of a character relationship. Some of the characters were too close to the ones in Rezkin series. Eg. Tezza is a mix between two of the women in the Rezkin series. I do wonder if it may have been different if Nick wasn’t narrating. The main character was too vanilla. Her other series had me needing to listen every word and wanting the next book, whereas this book had me drifting elsewhere and not hearing a word and not caring. I know the head and the horse were supposed to be humorous but the were just plain annoying. Matthias wasn’t a golden boy, he was obnoxious!! I have no interest in the next book, unless they tie into the Rezkin series somehow.

Clare Corbett’s performance was brilliant - I recognised her voice instantly. The story was well written, just extremely predictable. Good for a short break between epics.

Star-Crossed cover art

Melissa George's narration was terrible

I gave it a 2 Stars because Melissa's narration was whispered the WHOLE time. I couldn't get far through the book because I couldn't understand a word she was saying so didn't know what was going on in the story. Whoever produced the book narration aught to be ashamed of themselves.

Ending was stupidly rushed. Was very disappointed in that. Book definitely wasn't as good as the first 2. :(

I wish I new to read the Liveship Trader Trilogy before I read/listened to this last Fitz & Fool book. Im off to read them now.

As for this book, I'm SO GRATEFUL there was a new narrator for Fitz. The guy who had narrated the last two was just awful and wrecked the books for me. This new narrator has zero voice acting, but at least he put good deal of emotion into it and was pleasant to listen to.

I'm so hoping there is a new series as this felt more unfinished than the last series did.

The Author's Note at the end made me love Brent Week's as an author even more. What a great man you are for drawing attention to something that is real and not to be ashamed of. Men have "problems", and so do women.

The book though, AMAZING. My favourite of the 4. Not a fan of the battle scenes as they always make my eyes glaze over (as with any book), but the revelations in this was awesome. Now I need the next book NOW.

It's super annoying when an author doesn't even know their own characters. Lou and old mate were not engaged like she mentioned and Nathan wasnt Will's Physio, he was his medical carer who did his exercises that were instructed by his Physio.
Also a massive downer that it wasn't the same narrator. Changed her personality completely.

If I ever have a hard time going to sleep, I know what to listen to. A dead fish has more life than the narration in this book.
