Graham Norton has shown again how great an insight he has into people, relationships, cause and effect and society. I've enjoyed his previous books and didn't realise this would not be another crime mystery but I was drawn in from the start. Narrating his own words, Graham brings the characters and places to life with his beautiful wit and observations. I loved it.

Although the lead character was not particularly likeable a lot of the time she came across as genuine albeit obsessed and self absorbed. Mostly I wanted her to reach her goals but occasionally I found her behaviour off-putting enough that I didn't really care! But I kept going and the ending seemed just about right. I didn't enjoy the narrator, sorry.

I struggled to get interested at the beginning not finding the characters particularly likeable. however I stuck with it and the story was good enough to keep you going for the end. as an audiobook swearing was a bit of an assault on the ears but if you don't want to miss any clues or information that's the price you pay lol. I don't know if I like the detective enough to listen to another one but it was ok.

Sad to say I found the story tedious, the denouement disappointing with too many strands to tie together and I didn't like the main characters or the setting! That said I did stick with it to the end and I'm sure it will appeal to many.

Such an uplifting story; I love how Watney never gives up, maintains his core values (love for others, joy of life, making the best of all situations, acceptance etc) through his trials on Mars. Will Wheaton provides an excellent voice for Mark. Although I've seen and loved the film and was concerned I'd have issues with existing notions of people, I thoroughly enjoyed his portrayal of the hero and every other character from start to finish

I loved the first two books but felt there was too much time early on here on the Cormack-Emma personal side story (I actually stopped listening around chapter five (?), moved to the last few chapters to see what happens then decided it would be worth persevering and went back. With a hard copy book I'd be skimming though those sections) Once the detective stuff was the main focus I was hooked and I will certainly be following this series. Love the narration and feel a growing desire to visit Ireland!

though the story was a bit hard to follow sometimes with multiple strands and investigations, conspiracies and past events all mixed together, the writing was excellent and well performed for audio. I'll certainly be looking for more in the series.

after 3 chapters that really dragged I skipped to the end. I enjoyed the first and second in the series but found the last quarter of Servant hard going so not surprised this one didn't interest me from the start.

I enjoyed the story and the performance, easily following along with the characters we've grown to know through the series. River was a little less mysterious perhaps but she fit in well and I was happy to accept the variation from my memory of her.

I enjoyed most of this book but it could have been about 5 or more chapters shorter! So much anguish and tears and I thought it lost focus as it hurtled in a jumble of politics and romance and heartache to the finish. But it was overall a good story. I particularly liked reading the Milamber action at the games from the other perspective. Will certainly check out the final in this trilogy.
