Story
Most historians study the smallest slivers of time, emphasizing specific dates, individuals, and documents. But what would it look like to study the whole of history, from the big bang through the present day - and even into the remote future? How would looking at the full span of time change the way we perceive the universe, the earth, and our very existence? These were the questions David Christian set out to answer when he created the field of "Big History", the most exciting new approach to understanding where we have been, where we are, and where we are going.

I have read several Big History type books and never seem to tire of them. In this book David Christian casts a fresh perspective that is informative, easy to follow and thoroughly enjoyable. In particular the final chapter is a poignant and thought provoking challenge to all of us that I reread several times. This is a terrific book, very well narrated. I recommend it highly.

Story
A Short History of Nearly Everything is Bill Bryson's quest to understand everything that has happened from the Big Bang to the rise of civilization. He takes subjects that normally bore the pants off most of us, like geology, chemistry, and particle physics, and aims to render them comprehensible to people who have never thought they could be interested in science. In the company of some extraordinary scientists, Bill Bryson reveals the world in a way most of us have never seen it before.

It is an incredible tale of so much in our Universe and history. Brilliantly written as only Bill Bryson can, and expertly narrated it is a must read for any curious mind.

Story
The key to living a happier, healthier life is inside us. Our gut is almost as important to us as our brain or our heart, yet we know very little about how it works. In Gut, Giulia Enders shows that rather than the utilitarian and - let's be honest - somewhat embarrassing body part we imagine it to be, it is one of the most complex, important, and even miraculous parts of our anatomy.

A really entertaining and informative book. Everyone knows how important the heart, brain, lungs and other gizzards are. But we kind of forget about the good old gut. At least I did until my gut went haywire a few years ago, and you really appreciate its wide ranging impact. This book is a great journey through our inner workings. Well read, always interesting. We all have a gut, you might as well know how important it is and this book does that well.

Story
The longtime Republican strategist and number one New York Times best-selling author of Everything Trump Touches Dies is back with a guidebook for beating Trump’s tricks, traps, and Twitter feed in 2020. Donald Trump is exactly the disaster we feared for America. Hated by a majority of Americans, Trump’s administration is rocked by daily scandals, and he’s embarrassed us at home and abroad. Trump can’t win in 2020, right? Wrong. As 2016 proved, Trump can’t win, but the Democrats can sure as hell lose.

Wow. This is is a riveting pull no punches book by a master strategist and story teller. I was enthralled, and horrified, from start to finish. Message for our Dear Democrats: buy it, read it, learn it, do it. This is not another "Trump is a Jerk" book, because we all know he is. This is a "How to Get Rid of this Jerk or Else" manual. Great writing, great pace and terrifically narrated.

Story
Why is America living in an age of profound economic inequality? Why, despite the desperate need to address climate change, have even modest environmental efforts been defeated again and again? Why have protections for employees been decimated? Why do hedge-fund billionaires pay a far lower tax rate than middle-class workers? The conventional answer is that a popular uprising against "big government" led to the ascendancy of a broad-based conservative movement.
