Like so many escapees

Like so many cult escapees this story feels a lot like them. It is my first real insight into the Jewish religion. I’ve read many stories of escapes from extremely religious family and Unorthodox is unique. There is no extreme abuse to the main character in Unorthodox but her personal struggle and questioning of what’s been told to her is human nature just as she said, other girls trying to blend in, be normal and unique. Feeling trapped in a situation or a cycle is one only strong willed women can break.

Thrilling as ever

Fiona McIntosh is always able to draw me in with history and romance. I learnt after my second book of hers to not get attached to the prologue main character. There were many twists and turns but ended a little predictable. Would have wanted to know more about Katerinas time in Switzerland.

Perfect cross over of Pretty little liars, Breakfast club and How to get away with murder. The character development was well done and the mystery was surprising. Perfect comment on today’s society with social media, violence and teenage relationships.
