From the midpoint onwards of this series the tempo changes, off to a great start then we follow the mighty like a Harry Potter book. The ending the author makes the mistake of thinking he created a deep character connection and that the reader is invested in their emotions, pages of uninspiring dialogue. Very well performed, disappointing series after a good start.

the story lacks character connection, it is close to a good story but it gets very fragmented. you can feel what the writer was trying to achieve but didn't haven the skillful execution of a Robin Hobb or similar. with rewrite this could be a good book.

I grimace every time a female characters talks after book 4. it is so bad they all have the same voice and it does not fit. I'm sure Daenerys isn't meant to sound like an 80 year old washer woman.

You will get the vibe that the author has googled 'memory' and taken all his search results as facts. It is more of a layman's blog post than an educational book.
