One of my favourite series. Each book gets better and better. Contrary to other reviews I thought the characters had depth and following their development throughout the series was a real pleasure. Great plot - steady development, a book in some ways that you can’t see where it’s going. Highly highly recommend!

Absolutely fantastic book! It’s been sitting on my Wishlist for over a year until I finally listened to it and I wish I had read it sooner. Excellent character development and unpredictable plot. Refreshingly believable and unique story. I really enjoyed the narration as well. Thank you!

This book was confusing. I have no clue how the title is meant to relate to the actual content and felt this was more a biography on ruby wax or her opinion on how to live that was not at all relevant to mindfulness or compassion. I found Ruby’s attempts at humour frustrating as they diverged hugely from the intended content of the book. I felt the same book could have been written a quarter of the size and it would still be ‘beating around the bush’. I didn’t like the conversational style of writing with the neuroscientist and the monk and ruby and personally found ruby difficult to continue to listen to as she goes on at length about her own life or puts others down (her co-writers, therapists, etc). I think the gems of the book were the neuroscientist and monks input but that ruby was like the unwanted comedian of the book. Nothing personal against ruby but I felt this book was awful. There are much better books out there that are way better written and with better content. A personal favourite: ‘why Buddhism is true’. This book might be good for some but it definitely wasn’t good for me. Unfortunately, I’ll be returning it.

Love this trilogy. It’s a refreshing new fantasy world with compelling plot and characters. More swearing than I’m used to and a bit brutal in parts but for that reason I think it is more realistic. I have no idea what’s coming in the third book but I can’t wait to find out!

Absolutely amazing book. The information itself is fascinating and intensely thought provoking but the way it is presented is so natural and easy to follow. Found myself laughing out loud more than once! Would recommend 100% especially for those who value the scientific approach. Superb! Narration was great too!

The character and plot development was great! I loved all the characters and found the story itself very believable. On to the next book!
Narration was good- it did its job on keeping me focused on the story and able to distinguish different characters- I only wish there was more pause between switching of characters as it take me some time to realise there had been a switch and it's confusing. But all in all: LOVED IT!

Slow paced story but so enthralling. So much depth in the story line and the characters and I really liked the narration. Now to read the rest of robin hobbs books!
