It’s okay but story doesn’t resolve enough before it cuts off for the next book. Look for something else if you want a satisfying narrative.

A very funny, very biting satire about the media, shock jocks and Aussie racism. A top notch chunk of podcast comedy.

If you’re a non-Indigenous person who grew up with your head in the sand about the other side of Australian history - this book will revolutionise the way you think about the country. Alternate title could be ‘Everything You Thought You Knew About Australian History Is Wrong’. Pascoe uses compelling, primary sources to show the indisputable sophistication of the Aboriginal economy and society at Euro arrival, and then how and why this truth was buried beneath the modern national identity. It is searing but ultimately hopeful.
