I finished this book in 2 sittings (unfortunately I had to sleep!) and it was so moreish that I would get so annoyed every time I got interrupted and had to pause it! I am currently in hospital after having multiple brain surgeries, and have been throwing regular pity parties for myself. Listening to Lucy's book could not have come at a better time for me. It sounds cliche, but it really has changed my whole perspective on life. I'm actually exhausted after finishing the book, but in a good way. I feel like I've been on a massive journey, a rollercoaster ride of emotions. I literally laughed out loud when Lucy described her second birth in the middle of a party to "My Sharona", and my heart ached when she described her lowest moments, being unfairly fired, divorce, rape. My heart sung at the Doc and the Captain love stories. Lucy has been through more than 50 people would experience in their lifetime. And most people who have had such horrific experiences would be bitter and twisted. But instead she has risen above it all, turned her life around and become an even more awesome, kick arse person. Her sense of adventure leaves me in awe. Her honesty, refreshing. Her optimism, contagious. This book has put everything in perspective for me, the pity party has stopped, and I'm left feeling hopeful and inspired. I'll never be as adventurous as Lucy, but by heck I'm gonna try! If you're umming and aahing over whether to read this book, just do it! You won't regret it.
