An entertaining, at times gripping, story with very real, believable characters. Narration of Sophie was excellent but Dee and Jasmine were awful! Made me dislike these characters, especially Jasmine who was downright irritating! But overall I really enjoyed it.

The lives of three very different sisters collide in this witty new novel from best-selling author Maggie Alderson. Recently divorced Rachel is juggling her new dream job in interior design PR with the demands of two young daughters. She's full of creative ideas, but - even with a colourful childminder or two - some days she can't make it into the office in time and in matching shoes. Her life is balanced more precariously than she cares to admit.

This started out well but the constant flitting between each character's thoughts mid paragraph was too distracting. Characters were one dimensional. It could have been so good, and normally I love Maggie Alderson, but I couldn't finish it.

Then We Came to the End is about how we spend our days and too many of our nights. It is about being away from friends and family, about sharing a stretch of stained carpet with a group of strangers we call colleagues.

This novel captures the ridiculousness of corporate life with great wit and a touch of compassion. The narration is absolutely outstanding - the best I've ever heard - and brings every character to life perfectly.

At first I was ready to give up listening and buy the book because the narration was so slow, but it picked up a couple of chapters in. Well written, interesting characters, bizarre at times, but a good, fun story.
