The performance is so stilted and off cadence. It’s like the narrator has zero familiarity with the text, almost like a robot. It’s absolutely impossible to listen to.

For the bit I did listen to, the author doesn’t really present any new arguments. If you’ve been paying attention you’d know basically everything he said. If you weren’t paying attention or were a hyper liberal then nothing he says is constructed in a way that will change your mind.

A misplaced word, an odd analogy, the appearance of not understanding something you thought he did, a little bit of bafflegarble... it adds up and it starts to make you think... you can’t quite put your finger on what it is... but lucky Vox has. While I don’t necessarily take this whole book at face value, it’s certainly answered some questions and has spurred me on to do more of my own research.

Truly an historical and monumental piece of propaganda. But considering the authors day job is opinion columns I shouldn’t have been surprised.

She does an expert job of weaving her own racism, religious bigotry and ignorance into all the separate chapters and somehow manages to mischaracterise both the right and the left of the political sphere as well as both Christianity and Islam.
