Story
The peaceful Eldarin were the last of three ancient races. The mystical Oltor, healers and poets, had fallen before the dread power of the cruel and sadistic Daroth. Yet in one awesome night, the invincible Daroth had vanished from the face of the earth. Gone were their cities, their armies, their terror. The Great Northern Desert was their only legacy. Not a trace remained for a thousand years....

A choppy story but a couple of great characters and scenes. Gemmell is efficiently enjoyable.

Story
Sequel to the extraordinary The Name of The Wind, The Wise Man’s Fear is the second instalment of this superb fantasy trilogy from Patrick Rothfuss. This is the most exciting fantasy series since George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire, and a must for all fans of HBO's Game of Thrones.

Almost worth it alone. Almost.

On its own it's a beautifully written book. There are moments and characters that are deep and unique. They make the reading of this satisfying regardless of where it appears in a series.
Alas, it is the progression of the longer term mysteries, the knowledge that this is the middle of a trilogy that tarnishes the experience a touch.
Really well narrated. Worthy listening if you enjoyed the first.
