It's 1920, and Christmas is coming. Major Lennox finds a body on his doorstep - why on his doorstep? Was it to do with the Countess? Was it about the ruby necklace? Lennox goes to Melrose Court, home to his uncle, Lord Melrose, to uncover the mystery. But then, the murders begin, and it snows, and it all becomes very complicated.

What a find! Just a pleasant little romp. Light hearted, self deprecating, reasonable length, great narrator. I'm jumping right back in to listen to the next 2 in the series.

What a beautiful book. It had me both chuckling out loud and then later crying while I listened. Highly recommended. Great narrator.

Story
Darren has two big talents: cricket and trouble. It is no surprise, then, that he becomes an Australian sporting star of the bad-boy variety - one of those men who's always got away with things and just keeps going...until the day we meet him, middle aged and in the boot of a car, and everything pointing towards a shallow grave.

I cannot recommend this book highly enough. From my first literal double take within the opening minutes all the way through to the end, the story line just kept me enthralled. The authentic Australian language and references and the fantastic narrator puts this unexpected gem up there with my all time favourties. thankyou Audible for bringing it to my attention
