The story is so well told. The characters are so believable (for fantasy). Such a dark but humourous book. And the narration! The narration is superb! Astonishingly so. I have not heard a narrator this good since Stormlight Archive's Reading and Kramer, or Rivers of London's Holdbrook-Smith. Truly an art.

Riveting and so painful.

Absolutely terrifying in this climate. I struggled through this book. I could not help but feel the pain the characters went through. I am so glad to have read this book. I feel changed.

Terrible narration. It makes it so hard to listen to the story when the narrator does not do the wonderful story justice.

This book was really good. A true fantasy masterwork. I really do not like the minimum word count as it just puts undue pressure on writing a review. I was going to say something about how this book mixes fantasy and science fiction so well... but I've hit the min. Excellent book.

Neil Gaiman knows how to spin a story. Absolutely rivetting. Some parts were a bit philosophical and I got turned a little around, but I reckon that was the point.

Such a great book! Very well paced. Traveling between the present and the past with such grace, it was so easy to switch contexts. The author is truly gifted. The narrator did a good job too. Definitely a book to be listened to.

Such great short stories. They take some time to build up to the darkness that you are shocked when you find yourself there. Roald Dahl is a genius.

There are books that you know you are supposed to read, but you don't know why. This was one for me. I put it off for such a long time, then finally decided to give it a go. I could always return it if it was bad. It was incredible. I feel like I was asleep before I read this book, and my eyes have only just opened.

Not my usual type, however I was engrossed!
