Read by the authors in tones reflecting their experience, this book offers tried and tested principles of effective leadership in a manner refreshingly free of corporate spin and new-age sophistry. Simple and memorable overarching principles are introduced and then well substantiated with examples from the civilian and military arenas; supporting their potential effectiveness and possible applications to the reader's own life.

There is much to gain from this book, Manson shares many hard won hard truths and anecdotes. He seeks earnestly to point readers toward better mental health and clarity of thought. There are parallels with stoic thought here, although presented with a welcome dose of humor and some jarring yet apt coarse languagd. I'd warmly encourage this book to anyone seeking an existential tune-up.

Safran's narration enlivens his first person experiences and even relationships with figures most of us would only know from the bottom of newspaper comments sections. He provides an earnest and amusing look into these dark corners and has the integrity to examine his own extremist leanings borne of his experiences. Well worth the listen.
