I have read this before and watched the TV series, but Elisabeth Moss makes the story seem fresh and new.

Val McDermid is an excellent author and Carol Jordan and Tony Hill are compelling characters.Unfortunately Saul Reichlin, who narrates the book is completely wrong for it.He has a very affected way of speaking, his accents are unconvincing and he turns Carol and Tony into caricatures.Hard to listen to.Very disappointing.

This book is tedious.I couldn't finish it as it was wordy and badly written. The narrator used inconsistent accents for the characters. The women's voices were particularly irritating.Definitely not recommended.
