Story
In the summer of 1967, Mark Garrison had dropped out of college at Southern Illinois University just before entering his third year. He had run out of money and had to work for a while. These were the days before the lottery and the draft soon came calling. In order to somewhat control his own future, he enlisted in the US Army's helicopter flight school program. Little did he know that this adventure would be the most profound experience of his life.

Would you listen to Guts 'N Gunships again? Why?
I loved this audio book - a fantastic story and as the title says, it is ALL GUTS AND GUNSHIPS ... the narration is excellent, I felt like I was there with Mike. His bravery and all those who fought in Vietnam has no bounds - absolute respect. I really cannot imagine (until I listened to this book) what it was like to be there 'in Country' and the reaction from their 'countrymen' when they returned 'Stateside'.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Every story Mike Garrison told is quite amazing, in particular the firefights with VC and NVA - it is a wonder how he survived at all.
Any additional comments?
Highly recommended, great narration with a compelling story in every chapter... everyone should know what these guys did in Vietnam. I thought Chickenhawk was good but GutsnGunships is equally as excellent.

Story
After Eric Davis spent over 16 years in the military, including a decade in the SEAL teams, his family was more than used to his absence on deployments and secret missions that could obscure his whereabouts for months at a time. Without a father figure in his own life since the age of 15, Eric was desperate to maintain the bonds he'd fought so hard to forge when his children were young - particularly with his son, Jason, because he knew how difficult it was to face the challenge of becoming a man on one's own.

Story
On 2 September ,2008, in a valley in eastern Afghanistan, Trooper Mark Donaldson made a split-second decision that would change his life. His display of extraordinary courage that day saw him awarded the Victoria Cross for Australia, making him the first Australian to receive our highest award for bravery in wartime since Keith Payne in 1969.Yet Mark's journey to those crucial moments in Afghanistan was almost as exceptional as the acts that led to his VC.
