Once I started listening it was hard to stop. From such a hard start in life it was just grit, perseverance and hard work to achieve so much. I have kept some life lessons from this book. To try your best and if you want to stop, go a little further. That my life is pretty good and I appreciate it more. That I should be respectful to everyone, you never know if that smaller unassuming guy could kill you with a pencil. Excellent book.

I found this book very helpful and interesting. Most importantly it wasn’t preachy, but definitely is clear on the damage alcohol does.

Story
Grim Reaper sits on the heart surgeon's shoulder. A slip of the hand and life ebbs away. The balance between life and death is so delicate, and the heart surgeon walks that rope between the two. In the operating room, there is no time for doubt. It is flesh, blood, rib retractors and pumping the vital organ with your bare hand to squeeze the life back into it. An off day can have dire consequences - this job has a steep learning curve, and the cost is measured in human life. Cardiac surgery is not for the faint of heart.

I'm so thankful for selfless surgeons like this. Just a shame now the NHS treat their Doctors so terribly so much so that talented doctors leave the system. an amazing book, I recommend it highly.

Girls like Neve Slater don’t get gorgeous guys like William. But William’s been in L A for three years, and Neve’s been slimming down in preparation for his return. Then her sister Celia points out that if Neve wants William to think she's an experienced love-goddess then she’d better get some experience - a man to show her the ropes, like Celia’s colleague Max. And since he’s not Neve’s type, she certainly won’t fall for him...

I really loved this book. Max was adorable, but at times I wanted to slap Nieve. Having said that though, I also understand her insecurities about the way she looks, it's something most of us deal with. I loved how their relationship slowly developed, and Max really was a great pancake boyfriend. 5 pancakes out of 5.
