I found the parable boring. A sting of cliches that was weaved into a hard to believe story. I enjoy both self help advice and parables but this was the worst of both worlds instead of the best.

Story
In this fascinating new book which he narrates himself, Oliver Burkeman argues that "positive thinking" and relentless optimism aren't the solution to the happiness dilemma, but part of the problem. And that there is, in fact, an alternative path to contentment and success that involves embracing the things we spend our lives trying to avoid - uncertainty, insecurity, pessimism, and failure. Thought-provoking, counterintuitive, and ultimately uplifting, The Antidote is a celebration of the power of negative thinking.

Story
For generations, we have focused on the individual drivers of success: passion, hard work, talent, and luck. But today, success is increasingly dependent on how we interact with others. It turns out that at work, most people operate as either takers, matchers, or givers. Whereas takers strive to get as much as possible from others and matchers aim to trade evenly, givers are the rare breed of people who contribute to others without expecting anything in return.

Not enough in this to purchase part 2
Reviewed: 25-07-2016
Would you try another book written by Jerry Hicks and Esther Hicks or narrated by Jerry Hicks?
I love the audio clips on Youtube from Esther Hicks so was quite excited to get this audiobook. Big disappointment. No offence but Jerry doesn't do the words justice - I much prefer Esters voice, tone and delivery. But worse than that this Part 1 give almost nothing of value. Apparently there is a 20 point guide referred to at the end of the is book but you have to purchase part 2 to get it. Personally I feel that it could have all be contained in the one audio book.
Would you be willing to try another book from Jerry Hicks and Esther Hicks ? Why or why not?
No because I felt that the Part 1 didn't give enough value
How did the narrator detract from the book?
His delivery is completely different to Esther. She is the voice that I am used to hearing.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointed.
