I bought the hard copy years ago cause I’m a big fan of Ian Banks’ non sci-fi books. I got a few chapters in and gave up cause I found it difficult to follow and get a clear picture where what was going on, I.e. which drone was which or AI. Then there was the endless pages of AI code language which I found super tedious. So though if I got the audio book I’d be able to follow better and get a clearer picture into the story. I was wrong, I gave up at the same point I did in the copy. This book for me is Boring and complicated.

Too many chefs spoil to book.

There are Multiple actors voicing the characters. The problem is that some of books characters have two different voices??!! For example The Duke had sometimes spoke with an American accent then another actor with a posh English accent. WHAT? Very confusing. What was the thinking behind this? Narration was OK but many of the characters seemed to have an outdated contrived vibe about their language. Think I’ll give up and wait for the Film.

Peter Kenny is a very talented story teller. His ability to switch accents adds extra dimensions and life to the many intriguing characters in this epic sci-fi adventure.

Boring, don’t waste your money.

You can get similar content from free podcasts. I got nothing out of this. Just random case studies that seem to have little relevance to the title.

Agreed with the importance of gut bacteria but I just can’t see how some of the most important foods in the Nightshade and pulses can be bad. People in parts of the Mediterranean and South America have long healthy lives before this book. It just doesn’t stack up for me.
