I was engrossed from the start, Hari is excellent when reading and this is one of the few non fiction books I have listened to from start to finish. He continues his exploration of how connection to each other and our environment has significantly impacted upon our mental health. Specifically that while medication is important, many mental health professionals focus solely on the medication side rather than the fact that no organism is independent of its environment and it is our environment that must also be taken into account when looking at the causes of depression.

Highly recommended and certainly fills in the holes regarding why the “pills” on their own without taking into account the impact of our environment and life trauma will never be enough. This is a positive book that asks us to look at the whole person and their environmental circumstances when considering depression rather than just the “chemical imbalance” theory of depression. A great book, well narrated and thought provoking.

One of the few audio books I have listened to from start to finish. The book is great and the narrator John Lee just brings it all to life. Highly recommended.
