this was a great book, the culture and world that's described is so interesting and detailed it draws you in. it does spend a while going through the details of the culture which could be repetitive and slow but is definitely worth it as it makes the larger story much more immersive and meaningful. the politics and issues with racism and class are really interesting and makes you really feel for the characters involved. last but not least Nick Podehl is an awesome narrator and his performance is perfect like usual.

such a great story and characters. I loved this book way more than i thought I would. It really draws you into his way of thinking and makes something so hard to imagine weirdly relatable. would highly recommend the book.

This is one of my favorite books of all time now with a really compelling story and completely unique characters. the play on the perspective between the different characters is awesome and so interesting to have a character who is so ridiculously powerful yet incredibly lacking all at the same time. I would highly recommend this series to anyone now.

the book starts of great but it's important to know in advance this is a small 3 part mini series than a full book. at times the performance is a bit too comical and makes it hard to get behind the characters. it also lacks any serious character progression , it was enjoyable enough as a short story though

enjoyed it, had the usual laughs and good progression of the story. my only sticking point is how unfair everything is to Phillip! nuff said.

great performance as usual and I felt the story and universe took another good step expanding. I'm now thoroughly invested in the story, characters and can't wait to see what happens next. There were some awesome twists and turns in this book that got me genuinly excited and loving the story. my only criticisms are that it always seems too easy for Minilan. given the incredible odds against him he always seems to get away unscathed or without even a close call which seems unlikely. also the tree folk were kind of a disappointment, they had been built up over the series and in the end didn't seem to do much. the lore and the story was great but I would have loved to dive into what makes the tree folk so formidable.
