Story
For over a century, we've accepted the scientific consensus that cancer results from genetic disease due to chromosomal damage in cell nuclei. But what if scientists are chasing a flawed paradigm? What if cancer isn't a disease of damaged DNA but rather of defective metabolism as a result of mitochondrial dysfunction? What if that startling truth could revolutionize our understanding of other diseases, too - and show us a radical new path to optimal health?

I actually stopped reading this once I looked up the author and was not really impressed by his standing in the medical community. A shame really as the book seemed quite good but I was really looking for more of a medical viewpoint not an osteopath

Story
Bled dry by interminable warfare, infighting and bloody confrontations with Lord Anomander Rake and his Tiste Andii, the vast, sprawling Malazan empire simmers with discontent. Even its imperial legions yearn for some respite. For Sergeant Whiskeyjack and his Bridgeburners and for Tattersail, sole surviving sorceress of the Second Legion, the aftermath of the siege of Pale should have been a time to mourn the dead.

Confusing to start but by the end it has you

Hard to get into because at the start it reads like you have come in mid series expecting you to understand what is going on and jumps around a lot. By the when you know
the characters and have some idea what is going on you love it
