Story
The Greek myths are amongst the greatest stories ever told, passed down through millennia and inspiring writers and artists as varied as Shakespeare, Michelangelo, James Joyce and Walt Disney. They are embedded deeply in the traditions, tales and cultural DNA of the West. You'll fall in love with Zeus, marvel at the birth of Athena, wince at Cronus and Gaia's revenge on Ouranos, weep with King Midas and hunt with the beautiful and ferocious Artemis.

I couldn’t finish this. Fry’s style is somewhat condescending and juvenile and he includes footnotes in the narrative that are irrelevant to the story.

Story
Since the publication of the first edition of Critical Race Theory in 2001, the United States has lived through two economic downturns, an outbreak of terrorism, and the onset of an epidemic of hate directed against immigrants, especially undocumented Latinos and Middle Eastern people. On a more hopeful note, the country elected and re-elected its first black president and has witnessed the impressive advance of gay rights. Critical Race Theory is essential for understanding developments in this burgeoning field, which has spread to other disciplines and countries.

I found this a helpful introduction to CRT - exactly what I was after. I remain unconvinced of it but it does offer some helpful insights. This recording was let down by sound engineering - evident corrections were inserted awkwardly into the otherwise good narration - and the ponderous citing of references in full.

The great Norse myths are woven into the fabric of our storytelling - from Tolkien, Alan Garner and Rosemary Sutcliff to Game of Thrones and Marvel Comics. They are also an inspiration for Neil Gaiman's own award-bedecked, best-selling fiction. Now he reaches back through time to the original source stories in a thrilling and vivid rendition of the great Norse tales.

Humanity has colonized the planets - interstellar travel is still beyond our reach, but the solar system has become a dense network of colonies. But there are tensions - the mineral-rich outer planets resent their dependence on Earth and Mars and the political and military clout they wield over the Belt and beyond. Now, when Captain Jim Holden's ice miner stumbles across a derelict, abandoned ship, he uncovers a secret that threatens to throw the entire system into war.

I tried the book because of the TV series. The book has seriously damaged the show for me! Can’t wait for my next credit to get the next in the series.
It took some getting used to the narrator for me. Not bad, just different. But as the story progressed the narration got out of the way, which I suppose a good narrator is meant to do.

Great story and narration, average writing
Reviewed: 02-05-2016
Where does Fear the Survivors rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
In terms of plot, concept and narration, this is a great book. Original and gripping. But Moss's writing style is weak, which is probably why it wasn't picked up by a publisher. I'm not sure I'd enjoy reading it so much.
What other book might you compare Fear the Survivors to, and why?
This series is similar to The Looking Glass series by John Ringo - it's military sci fi but with more politics and better character development.
Have you listened to any of R. C. Bray’s other performances? How does this one compare?
This is as good as any of R.C. Bray's other performances, in my opinion. A brilliant narrator.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes and no. It's quite intense so I simply couldn't. And at 20 hours you've got to be pretty dedicated.
Any additional comments?
I've listened to the whole series and this review pretty much goes for the other books as well. An enjoyable listen.

Story
From the Audie-nominated narrator of The Martian. In eleven years' time, a million members of an alien race will arrive at Earth. Years before they enter orbit, their approach will be announced by the flare of a thousand flames in the sky, their ships' huge engines burning hard to slow them from the vast speeds needed to cross interstellar space. These foreboding lights will shine in our night sky like new stars, getting ever brighter until they outshine even the sun, casting ominous shadows and banishing the night until they suddenly blink out.
