Let’s face it: fitness is hard. Have you ever gotten into the car after a long day at work and headed straight for the couch instead of the gym? Have you ever been unable to stop hitting the snooze button in the morning? Have you even felt secretly afraid you just don’t have what it takes to transform your body and health? Welcome to the club.

I was genuinely impressed by this book. I am not in a good place physically after having been in good shape in the past, but I had all but resigned myself to just desiring and failing forever. I am currently 45kgs overweight and have a multitude of physical and mental conditions, but after listening to this something woke up. I'm exercising (and have bought Mike's other book "Bigger, Leaner, Stronger") and eating healthier, and have actually heard wisdoms herein which I've either not registered prior or remembered having done so (I like to read and know everything [despite knowing this is not possible, but the endeavour is character-building], so when I hear something I haven't heard, it is genuinely delightful). Finally, Mike's breadth of knowledge for both the content discussed and the context set through historical, philosophical and socio-political content was fantastic - I actually came away from reading/listening to this book feeling more confident in the way forward and more knowledgeable across areas which I hadn't expected to be covered in this book. One of my most valued purchases for what it is intending to achieve and the unexpected benefits derived from the breadth of content. Thank you for writing it - you have had a large hand in waking me up and returning me from the brink of permanent despondency. I will ensure I tell people and do my part to contribute to your "1 million people helped" goal.
