This is one of the best books I’ve heard in a while. I really enjoyed each characters story and the fact that there isn’t a lot of rambling on about scenery. I guessed a couple of things yet I enjoyed the story’s progression and ultimate end

I adore this author. His last book wasn’t that great so I was a bit worried. This book was back to his best. The character Cyrus is slightly damaged and very easy to like. The young girl Evie is also damaged and your heart breaks for her.
I look forward to seeing more of him I hope

I really enjoyed this book and I think it was because of the off beat characters. The variation between the two storyline’s kept me interested and guessing till the end. I liked the ending as it wasn’t too predictable. An easy listen

I really love mystery novels and this came up as a suggestion. I would not call it a mystery. It’s more the story of a selfish man trying to avoid a midlife crisis. He is surrounded by woman with low self esteem and children who will do whatever they need to to get his attention. It ends way to unbelievably

Omg this book was painful. Everyone was rich, attractive and successful. The whole storyline was so ridiculous and a waste of my life that I will never get back.
I am thinking about getting my money back. DO NOT BUY THIS unless you have trouble sleeping and need a remedy

I’m in two minds writing this. I really enjoyed the story and liked two of the main characters- Paul and Hannah. It’s just I guessed the ending in about chapter 2 or 3 . I kept hoping there was a huge twist and I guess there were a couple of surprises, however the main crux of the ending was very predictable. In saying that I still really enjoyed this book and the narrator was very good and easy to listen to.
I will try another book by this author as I enjoyed his style of writing. He doesn’t go into long details about places or people and I enjoyed that quality.

The Narrator ruined this for me

I felt cheated by the narrator when listening to this book. The storyline had potential however her voice was so annoying I couldn’t wait for the book to finish. So much so that I jumped ahead quite a lot just make it to the end. I felt like she was talking to me as if I was a child or patronising me. I won’t ever buy a book with her as the narrator again.

I loved this book so much I bought my mum the hard copy for Mother’s Day. I can normally guess the twist at the ending, I think because I’ve read so many mysteries. This ending completely surprised me ...and my mum. I wish I could read this book again without knowing how it ends just for that shock. Read this book .

This book showed a side of humans that makes me sad to be a part of such a selfish race. What the children are made endure was quite heartbreaking.
Nathan Cody is like a dog with a bone and you only hope that if placed in a situation such as those Jackson creates I’d have someone like Cody on my case.

Very eventful with twist ending

I’ve read all of David Jackson books and I love the character Nathan Cody. He’s such a tortured soul that you can’t help hoping it will all work out for him. I really enjoy how the author describes any supporting characters. In this book the way he talks about the shoe salesmen provided an element of humour to an otherwise dark storyline.
This book was listened to on a long road trip and the time speed by.
The ending had a great twist and I hope we see more of (spoiler ahead) Sara in the future.
