Although a little predictable this is a wonderful story about a tragic event and the processes one woman experiences in order to live with this event as her past reality - a gentle book with plenty of narrative to keep the reader reading and interested!

Once again as in the persimmon tree I find Bryce’s plot looses its appeal when it focuses on war - 2 great books until war begins!

A few memorable Moments of interest but mostly a long slow boring read that was often difficult to follow due to the many characters with similar names. Lasted till the last 3 hours then gave it away.

Over all not bad - I continue to return to lianes books after Secrets and Lies but yet to find one that comes close - this one too many generations to follow and I feel It could have been written as a shorter novel getting to what really happened quicker - last 2 hours a page turner but up till then slow and cumbersome always trying to understand who I was following - sooo many siblings, parents, aunts etc
