We live in a time of unprecedented upheaval, when technology and so-called progress have made us richer but more uncertain than ever before. We have questions about the future, society, work, happiness, family and money, and yet no political party of the right or left is providing us with answers. So, too, does the time seem to be coming to an end when we looked to economists to help us define the qualities necessary to create a successful society. We need a new movement.

Bregman's ideas are fresh, he busts myths and forces you to think beyond what is currently "known" in terms of economics, society and politics. All presented in easy to understand language, humorously written and underpinned by staggering and fascinating research. And Peter Noble's narration is excellent; engaged and very pleasant. If you read (listen to) only one book this year, read this!

Even though I'm not really into soccer (except when the Dutch national team is involved in the World Cup), I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Zlatan is a remarkable, likeable character with a remarkable career, who speaks honestly about an interesting world/sport/business I knew little about.

In June of 1999, Stephen King was hit by a van while walking along the shoulder of a country road in Maine. Six operations were required to save his life and mend his broken body. When he was finally able to sit up, he immediately started writing. This book - part biography, part a collection of tips for the aspiring writer - is the extraordinary result.

I've never read Stephen King because he'd never written anything in a genre I like, but, as a writer, I had to try this book. Stephen King's memoir on writing turned out to be engaging, funny, endearing, inspiring and instructive, and I loved every word of it. To be read to by the author himself is a bonus, as his voice carries his love of life, writing and... Tabby!
