The narrator was great but the story was seriously lacking. I guessed who did it after a handful of scenes that featured the murderer at the beginning of the book. I preserved though as I thought i must have been wrong as I though that it couldn’t possibly be that obvious. Unfortunately it was.

I found the narrator quite annoying initially but grew on me as the story went on. Persevere as this book quickly ramps up and it is absolutely worth it.

Like many books these days this book followed many characters, some of which were interesting while others were not. The plot as a whole kept me interested and by about halfway through I was really looking forward to listening to it. Unfortunately though I found the ending incredibly disappointing. I understand the quality of an ending that isn’t picture perfect however I need something positive rather than depressing, sad and unsatisfying.

This was the best book that I have read/listened to in a long time. It took me the first couple of chapters to get into it but once I was, I was hooked. The narrator is incredible. It’s like a theatre production. I can’t wait to listen to the rest of the books in the series.

I bought this book thinking it was adult fantasy as nowhere in the description did it say for young adults. The main character is painfully arrogant, selfish, childish and stupid. I think she is supposed to be cool, quirky and ‘hard core’ but any intelligent person over the age of 17 is probably going to find her annoying. I persevered as I’d already paid for the book but got about halfway and couldn’t bear the main character any longer. This was disappointing as the other characters, storyline and narrator was otherwise pretty good.

I thought the storyline was great however the characters lack depth and relationships between characters are extremely superficial. For this reason I found it hard to really get into this book. On top of that, to me this series seems more like one book, split up into a series which of course ends up costing triple (I think there are three in the series??) the amount of money. The narrator was ok but a little monotone. I wont be buying book three.

Strong characters, good story and well narrated.

This book was a really enjoyable read. About a quarter of the way through I started to wonder where it was going but it’s worth persevering. A nice mix of adventure, hardship and love. Nice to read a book with a strong, intelligent and likeable female lead which I’ve personally found really difficult to find.

This is one of those books that spreads something that could be written in 50 pages into a whole book. Lacks depth, complexity, pace and an interesting main character.

This book was very well narrated but lacked depth in the characters and was very predictable. I got about halfway through and gave up.
