listening to this book was the reason why I could finish it, because of Elisabeth's beautiful narration and it was also chosen by my bookclub... the story is so morbid and is one where there is little hope, I would not have been able to keep reading it. I kept wondering throughout how the author was able to get her feet out of bed each day whilst being immersed in the writing of this book, it's such a depressing story. It is well-written, with minute details of a sad world.

This story told and narrated by Patti Smith is so beautiful.. it is raw and real and tells the truth of what is at the heart of being human and how humans who are living life their way, not bothered by peer pressure and rules can fall into and experience real deep love, life that seems to fall into place, and synchronicity that occurs from the power of just being true to oneself. This story is an Important one, not just for Robert Maplethorpe and Patti but for all of us, it will touch your heart. They have both experienced a human relationship that probably most humans have never experienced.. how fortunate they are! Thank you Patti, this work is a real gift to humanity. Hearing Patti read makes the story even better, she is a true story-teller!

A well written and well narrated book... this has crept into my top ten all time best. The concepts discussed were not new to me, but my understanding of them is so much deeper by the way in which Joe Dispenza has discussed them in the book. He gives direct techniques to use to be able to break the habit of being yourself, and the outcomes seem exciting, I’m looking forward to putting these into practice and getting way more out of life. I enjoyed listening to the audiobook first and have also bought myself a hard copy to work from.
